Organ Cave-Dorothy “Marie” Brooks, 74, passed away Sunday, July 5, 2015, at Charleston Area Medical Center in Charleston.

Marie was born on July 24, 1940, in Caldwell. She was the daughter of the late Leonard and Kathleen LaFon.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Eddie LaFon.

She was of the Pentecostal faith.

Marie worked at Hanover Shoe in White Sulphur Springs and was a homemaker.

Those left to cherish her memory are: her husband of 55 years, James Brooks of Organ Cave; daughters, Velette Brooks and husband Bobby and Cynthia May and husband Craig; grandsons, Cory May, Anthony May and Jeremy Brooks; one great-granddaughter; and brothers, Wayne LaFon of Organ Cave, Jimmy LaFon of Ronceverte and Jack LaFon and Tommy LaFon both of Organ Cave.

Funeral services were held Thursday, July 9, at Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home in Lewisburg, where Rev. James Kite officiated. Burial was in Greenbrier Memorial Gardens in Lewisburg.

Visitation was Wednesday evening, July 8, at the funeral home.
