On Monday, Oct. 31, the White Sulphur Springs Lions Club invites children to stop by the Little General on Main Street for a special Halloween treat, and to say hello to a very large Lion. Don’t forget to bring your used eyeglasses!
The Lions Club encourages everyone to bring used eyeglasses to the Little General. The glasses will be recycled and given to those who cannot afford to purchase eyeglasses. The WSS Lions have been participating in this special “sight night” for several years as a way to educate young people about the importance of recycling glasses to help others.
An estimated 19 million children world-wide are visually impaired. Yet, 80 percent of visual impairment is avoidable, readily treatable and/or preventable. Local Lions clubs screen hundreds of children each year at the elementary schools, and many are found to need further evaluation by professionals.
Please bring your children by from 6-8 p.m. and bring as many used eyeglasses as you can. All children will receive a treat whether or not they bring eyeglasses.
If you have any questions, contact Lion President Mary Ann Hensley at 304-536-4041.
