Denise Ray Wilson McIntyre

Roanoke, VA-Denise “Denny Ray” Ray Wilson McIntyre died Friday, May 8, 2015, in a Roanoke, VA, hospital following a long illness.

She was born in Rocky Mount, VA, on Apr. 8, 1959, the daughter of Edwin Boone Wilson of Lewisburg and the late Barbara Boothe Wilson of Clifton Forge, VA.

She resided near Bedford, VA, with her husband Redd McIntyre. She attended school in Greenbrier County and graduated from Greenbrier East High School in 1978. She enjoyed any and all animals. Horses were her love. Denise was an avid horse show enthusiast. One of her most cherished moments was placing 2nd in the Roanoke Valley Western Horse Show riding her favorite horse, Big Ben.

She was a dedicated member of Radford Baptist Church SML for many years and served in the Nursery, Awana, VBS, and children’s church. In 2011, she served in Uganda with the mission: “Serving His Children.”

She is survived by: her husband, Redd McIntyre; father, Edwin Wilson; sisters, Debbie Weisel and Dee Wilson of Kissimmee, FL; brother Edwin “Butch” Wilson Jr. of Organ Cave; and half-brothers, Eddie Wilson of Atlanta, GA, George Wilson of Cleburne, TX, Stitch Wilson of Frankford, and Lynn Wilson of Dade City, FL.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday, May 15.

On Saturday, May 16, at 11 a.m., we will celebrate her life.

Both services will be held at Radford Baptist Church SML, 1293 Radford Baptist Church Road, Moneta, VA.

Memorials in lieu of flowers can be made to the RBC children’s ministry.
