Delores Jane Bennett, 79, of Rock Cliff Road, Rupert, went to her eternal home Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at her home, surrounded by her loving family.

Born January 26, 1946, in Fayetteville, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Opal (Adkins) Kessler.

Delores retired from working in manufacturing. The thing most important to her was spending time with her family, and the more, the better!  Delores enjoyed watching television, especially the cooking shows, where she would get many recipes to share with her family. She was known to “carry the mail” during her phone calls to each of the family. They would play along and tell her not to tell anyone, knowing the minute she called the next one, she would share it. Delores was a blessing to her family, leaving them with many good and fun memories. She was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her beloved husband Robert Bennett, Sr.; her son Robert Bennett, Jr.; and four brothers Joseph Kessler, Lee Adkins, Dale Kessler and Wilson Kessler.

Survivors include her daughter Loretta Gwinn of Rupert; her son Teddy Bennett (Carmen) of Rupert; two sisters Betty Bennett (Charles) of Quinwood and Nila Smith (Kenneth) of Chicago, IL; two brothers-in-law David Bennett of Quinwood and Fred Bennett (Florence) of Rupert; two sisters-in-law Ethelene Martin of Pennsylvania and Vicky Bennett of Quinwood; six grandchildren Samantha Hall (Eugene), Joseph Phillips (Morgan), Vanessa Kashola (Chance, Mark Phipps, Kara Bennett, and Kayla Sapp; nine great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family and friends.

Services will be at 12 noon, Saturday, May 24, at Smathers Funeral Chapel, with Pastor Aaron Trigg officiating.

Burial will follow in the family cemetery.

Friends may call one hour before the service from 11 a.m. to 12 noon at the funeral home.

Smathers Funeral Chapel is honored to have been entrusted to care for Delores and her family during their great time of need.
