DAR Chair Judy Deegans (left) delivers donations to Ruann Handy and Suzette Taylor, Volunteer Services, Beckley VA Medical Center

In mid-December, personal items of clothing and toiletries were delivered to Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center at Beckley by Judy Deegans, chair of the Veterans Affairs Committee, General Andrew Lewis Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution. Other committee members include Carol Olson and Suzanne Cronquist.

Members of General Andrew Lewis Chapter contribute items of clothing and personal toiletries. They were delivered to Suzette Taylor, Director of Volunteer Services. She was eager to receive the gifts for the veterans. They also service homeless veterans so blankets and sleeping bags were included in the contribution. The Chapter is proud of the donated items which amounted to over $1,100.

The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution is a nonprofit, non-political women’s service organization whose main objectives are historic preservation, education and patriotism. Members are all lineal descendants of those who supported the cause of independence in the Revolutionary War back in 1776.

If you are interested in the Daughters of the American Revolution, call former Regent Sandra Cowan at 304-497-3553.
