Every April in recognition of Child Abuse Awareness Month, Child and Youth Advocacy Center recognizes a person, group, or organization that has provided great support for children and families as their annual “Champion for Children.” For 2015, CYAC has given the honor to Shuck Memorial Baptist Church in Lewisburg.

The church is actually located next door to CYAC on Washington Street and the congregation has worked with CYAC Family Advocate Barbara Stone for the last several years in gathering food for Thanksgiving as well as clothing and gifts for children during the Christmas season. They’ve also contributed paper products and stuffed animals throughout the year.

Stone expressed appreciation for Shuck’s efforts for the families she works with. “They’re always ready to help children that are in need. The people at Shuck always have families and children’s best interests at heart.”
