The Community Educational Outreach Service (CEOS) in Greenbrier County marked the beginning of their new year with its annual Lesson Leader Training. The event brought together local educators and community volunteers to focus on practical, state-curated lessons designed to bolster local preparedness, tourism, wellness, and community service.

Educational lessons cover a variety of topics. At this training, participants delved into four key lessons: Emergency Preparedness 101: Plan, Prepare, Prevail!, History of Mail Pouch Barns, Scams Targeting Senior Citizens, and Cup of Comfort in Coffee. These topics, developed by Extension Agents from across the state, provide the backbone for the club’s monthly educational meetings, empowering community members with up-to-date knowledge and practical skills.

CEOS is renowned not only for its educational endeavors but also for its hands-on community service. Members have actively contributed to a variety of local initiatives, including volunteering at libraries, crafting heart pillows for CAMC patients, assembling wheelchair caddies for nursing homes, donating to Energy Express and 4-H, as well as engaging in gardening projects and planting pollinator-friendly flowers.

“CEOS continues to play a crucial role in enhancing both education and service in our community,” said Linda Spencer, GC CEOS President. “Our efforts reach into every corner of Greenbrier County, making a difference in the lives of our neighbors.”
