A new adaptation created just for GVT, this musical extravaganza weaves together Mother Goose’s famous characters into a beautifully rich Christmas fantasia that’s fun for the whole family. Join Jack, Jill, Contrary Mary, Tom Tom and more as they race to outwit evil Uncle Barnaby and his hapless henchmen, Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum.
The cast of “Babes in Toyland” features 10 Greenbrier County community actors and more than 30 students from GVT’s After-School program. Three community members are performing alongside their children including Kara Dense who shares the stage with her daughter.
“I’m so thrilled to have the opportunity to do ‘Babes in Toyland’ with my daughter, Lily. The amazing thing about theatre and performing arts is that it’s something you can do your entire life. I’ve not been in theatre for 20 years, but I get to step in and be on stage with my child,” Dense said. “I’m doing my best to cherish every moment because I know it’s something that both of us will remember for the rest of our lives.”
“Babes in Toyland” presents a wonderful opportunity for the student actors in GVT’s after-school program. They are able to utilize skills learned in the after-school program while working with a professional cast, director and design team.
