Join us as we meet our state candidates for the Senate and House of Delegates and learn about the Our Children, Our Future campaign on Oct. 29 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Lewisburg City Hall. The forum will include a nonpartisan candidate discussion regarding topics relating to issues that affect us all. Candidates will include Ron MIller, Coy Flowers, Duane Zobrist and Courtney Jesser.

Our Children, Our Future is a statewide, community-led campaign that focuses on child poverty and advocates for state policy changes. They have collaborated with over 177 organizations, churches, schools, chambers of commerce, unions, legislators, and other groups in West Virginia. The Our Children, Our Future campaign is a group made up of working families and children, working to make a better future for our state.

West Virginia has major health and welfare issues related to poverty and its citizens are struggling to survive. In 2013, one out of five families in the state lived below the poverty line. That is less than $24,000 a year for a family of four.

This forum is an opportunity to meet candidates and hear their viewpoints on issues that affect West Virginians at the grassroots level. Each person has the opportunity to change this state into a healthy and productive population. Citizens’ voices can make the change but only if we get out and vote, and let our representatives know what we are concerned about. This is the goal of Our Children, Our Future campaign.

For further information and/ or to email your questions for the candidates to Martha Snider at sndhomer@aol.com.
