All alumni of Lewisburg High School and their guests are invited to a special all-school reunion on Oct. 11. This occasion is unique for several reasons: we will dedicate the newly approved historic marker, commemorate a century since the first graduating class, and gather for what may be the final all-school reunion. It promises a chance to reconnect with classmates and other attendees you may not have seen in years, as well as to revisit the halls of the old school, stirring memories of times past – like Mrs. Sally Bell leading everyone through the counties of West Virginia: Hancock, Brooke, Ohio, Marshall, etc.
At the event, there will also be a historic marker dedication. Earning approval for a WV historic marker for a public school site is rare. A graded school was built on this site in the late 1880s and was replaced in the 1920s, and later expanded by the building now on the site. Indeed, it is a vital part of the history of Lewisburg. The marker will be dedicated to alumni, faculty, staff, and especially to those who contributed. Join us at 4 p.m. in front of the school near Lee Street for the dedication ceremony. Explore our old school, which is now the Lee Street Studios Centre for the Arts.
Following the dedication, a catered reception and dinner will be held at the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine Conference Center beginning at 5:30 p.m.
Please note: The registration deadline has been extended to Sept. 18. Submit the registration form provided by your class representative. If you need a form or have misplaced it, contact Shelby Banton Mengel ’66 at 304-520-8891. We need your names, contact information, a check for $40 per person, and your contribution for the historic marker.
We look forward to seeing you and celebrating together in October!
