The Greenbrier Valley Visitors Center welcomes fall with art and music! Stop by to view the October “Art in the Valley” exhibits. Greenbrier Artists present their annual show “Our Best New Work” featuring paintings and photography. Meet some of the artists as they talk about the inspiration for their artwork. The Art Alcove will feature the woodcrafting of Lonnie Withrow. Growing up on a small farm in Lewisburg and armed with a pocketknife, Lonnie entertained himself by making whistles and sling shots. His love of woodwork continued throughout his life but really took shape with his retirement in 2000. Most of his pieces combine wood and tile and at the ripe age of 85, he is turning out rolling pins and jewelry boxes. Stop in to meet Lonnie and view his collection of wood and tile trivets, coffee tables, charcuterie and cutting boards, rolling pins and more! Music throughout the evening will be provided by local band Distant Light. Enjoy the rock/blues/folk sounds and original tunes from this group of talented musicians. And if you love quilts, members of the Alderson Quilt Guild will be on hand to sell tickets for their 2023 raffle quilt and representatives from the Hospitality House will also hold a quilt raffle. Hope to see you on the 6th! (905 Washington Street W 304- 645-1000, @GbrValleyWV)

Laurel Arbaugh is the talent behind Venturess and has a love for science, geology, petrology and mineralogy. From meditation and positive energy all the way to the ingredients we need to create things here on earth (not to mention beautiful accents), stones are so versatile and integral to life. Laurel was fortunate enough to spend few years as a stay-at-home mom to her amazing daughter and during that time, she came across a dealer of beautiful, raw, real gemstones and took this opportunity to create beautiful pieces of jewelry with these natural stones combined with foraged pieces she and her daughter found on their adventures together. Armed with creativity and a box full of unique seaglass, gems and other beautiful findings, Laurel can’t wait to add natural beauty to YOUR natural beauty!
