Cassandra Moats awarded the Thomas Given Memorial Scholarship

Cassandra Moats, a member of the Class of 2022 at Pocahontas County High School, ranked in the top 10 of her class and was very active in school activities. She has become the first PCHS graduate to earn the 2022 Thomas Given Memorial Scholarship.

Moats is also very active in her church and has helped the Greenbrier Valley Council 8689 of the Knights of Columbus with the fish dinners for the past nine years.

Miss Moats is the first Pocahontas County High School graduate to receive the scholarship which was established at the time of the death of Mr. Given by his friends and family.

She will be using this and other scholarship assistance to attend West Virginia University in Morgantown, majoring in elementary education.

Donations in memory of Mr. Given may be made to enrich the endowment to the Knights of Columbus Greenbrier Valley Council at P.O. Box 237, Maxwelton, WV, 24957.

Mike Williams, financial secretary of the Greenbrier Valley Council 8689 Knights of Columbus, administers the Thomas Given Memorial Scholarship Fund to Cassandra Moats on behalf of the Given family.
