Carroll Ray Nunnery, 89, of Rupert, passed away peacefully at his home on Feb. 16, 2026.

Born on Nov. 6, 1936, in Victor, he was the son of Orlene Nunnery. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Kyle, and two grandchildren.

Ray proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, retiring after a dedicated career of service. Following his military service, he worked as a service manager at Goodyear Tire Shop, where he was known for his strong work ethic and steady leadership.

Ray had a lifelong passion for cars. Whether under the hood, talking engines and performance, or simply appreciating a well-kept vehicle, automobiles were more than a hobby – they were one of his great joys. His knowledge, enthusiasm, and pride in a job well done reflected the care and precision he brought to everything in life.

A man of deep faith and fellowship, Ray was a devoted member of Bascom United Methodist Church in Rupert. His faith was not only something he professed, but something he lived daily. He sought to reflect the light of Jesus in the way he treated others – with kindness, generosity, and a willing heart to help wherever there was need. Ray believed in serving others quietly and faithfully, allowing his actions to speak louder than words.

He was also an active member of The Single Action Shooting Club, where he enthusiastically participated in cowboy-action shooting under the name “The New River Kid.” He enjoyed time on the golf course and valued the friendships and camaraderie found in the activities he loved.

He is survived by his loving wife, Wanda Kay Osborne Nunnery; two daughters, Joshawna Nunnery and Cassiopeia Davidson; three sons, Aaron Nunnery, Quentin Nunnery, and Pierce Nunnery; his sister, Sharon Knox; his brother, Bill Holley; ten grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He leaves behind a legacy of service, strength, faith, and devotion to family.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
