Fairlea – Caroline C. Simmons passed away on Friday, July 21, 2023 at Peyton Hospice House in Fairlea from a short illness. She was 84 years old.
She was born in Hinton to Arnold and Blanch Callaham.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 54 years, Carlis Simmons; son-in-law, Robert (Tony) Myers; and infant daughter, Lisa Carol Simmons.
She was married to a Navy man for 54 years. She was a very proud and patriotic wife whose favorite holiday was the 4th of July and she loved decorating for the 4th of July. Everything was red, white, and blue.
She enjoyed yard sales, was a Civil War and WW2 enthusiast, and she loved to shop. Everything had to match perfectly from her head to her toes. That was a running joke in our family for years. She will be missed by those who knew her and loved her. She was a 1957 Graduate of Hinton High School. Carlis and Caroline both were long standing member of Mt. Zion Primitive Baptist Church.
Caroline worked for Dr. Julian Meadows DDS for almost 20 years, as the office manager. She loved working for Dr. Meadows. She was people person and loved being around people and helping them anyway she could. She never met a stranger.
She is survived by her daughter, Traci Myers; grandsons, Levi Myers and Ivy Reynolds of Bridgewater, VA; two brothers, Arthur and Ruthann Callaham of Richmond, TX, and Bert and Carol Callaham of The Villages, FL. Also, two other young men who loved and called her Grams were Austin Dilly and Nicholas Boiteau; sister in law, Clara Bennett of Covington, VA; brother- in-law, Willis Simmons of Virginia Beach, VA; along with many nieces and nephews. Last but not least, her precious dog, Gabby.
She’s safe, healthy, and with her loved ones again. She’s with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and she has her angel wings.
I love you mom *me did*
