The Faculty Merit Foundation of West Virginia announces that nominations are now open for the 2016 Professor of the Year Award. Nomination forms have been distributed throughout West Virginia to all public and private colleges and universities. Professor of the Year nomination forms are also available online at www.wvhumanities.org. Nominations must be postmarked no later than November 1 to be eligible for consideration.
The Faculty Merit Foundation was created in 1984 to recognize and reward outstanding innovation and creativity among the faculties of West Virginia’s public and private institutions of higher education. Through the Professor of the Year program, the achievements of these individuals are brought to the attention of the entire state.
The first step in the selection process is to gather nominations, which must include comprehensive and specific information about each nominee. The Foundation selects up to five Professor of the Year finalists based on the written information presented and interviews with each finalist. The finalists will be honored at a banquet in Charleston early in 2017 at which time the Professor of the Year will be announced.
The Professor of the Year receives a $10,000 cash award, sponsored by Graystone Consulting of Charleston and other supporters, and a special handmade glass trophy from Blenko designed specifically for this program. For more information contact Ken Sullivan, 304-346-8500.
