Attention flood volunteers

Do you want to use your skills to volunteer to assist residents that have been affected by flooding in Greenbrier County? Or does your volunteer group need volunteers to help? The Volunteer Mobilization Center can match volunteers with skills with agencies that need volunteers to help them. Call 304-808-1872, or visit the VMC at either Magic Mart in Rainelle or the satellite at Old White Motors in White Sulphur Springs. Also, you can email to lewisburgvrc@gmail.com.

School Backpack Giveaway

at Lowe’s, 237-1 Gateway Blvd., Lewisburg, Saturday, July 30 from noon to 3 p.m. No purchase necessary – one free backpack with school supplies per child. Giveaway courtesy of Verizon. While supplies last. Child MUST be present to receive backpack.

Williamsburg Thrift Shop

is having a $1 bag sale for July and August to help with the needs of the area. Hours and days open are Mondays 10 a.m.-2 p.m., Fridays 5-7 p.m., and Saturdays 10 a.m.-12 noon. The Thrift Shop will be open during the Williamsburg Community Fair Saturday, July 30, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Items in the Thrift Shop are books, household items, shoes, clothes from infants to 5X. Tetanus shots

The Greenbrier County Department of Health still has tetanus vaccine available at the Health Department in Fairlea free of charge for anyone that has been or will be working in the flood waters and/or debris. Available weekdays from 8:30-11:30 a.m. and 1-4 p.m. If it has been more than five years since your last Tetanus shot, and you are working in the flood waters and/or debris, a booster dose is needed.

Flood debris notice

As Greenbrier County contractors continue to remove debris from affected homes and areas, it is important to note that only flood-related debris can and will be removed by the contractors and accepted at temporary dumpsites. Anyone bringing debris to a temporary dumpsite that is not flood-related will be directed to the Greenbrier County Landfill. Additionally, debris and construction materials being removed from structures by paid private contractors will not be picked up by Greenbrier County contractors or be allowed at temporary dumpsites. This debris must be taken directly to the Greenbrier County Landfill.

American Heritage Music Hall

needs volunteer help

American Heritage Music Hall at Island Park, 315 Monroe Avenue, Ronceverte, is closed due to flooding June 23 and 24. We need volunteers to help us clean up the flood damage. Greenbrier Artists exhibit

Greenbrier Artists will join the Lewisburg Literary Festival to celebrate reading and art by creating paintings based on the written word. The exhibit is held at the Greenbrier Valley Visitors Center on East Washington Street in Lewisburg. This year’s exhibit, “Paintings from Poems!” will open Aug. 5. The reception will be held from 5-8 p.m. as part of First Fridays after Five. The artists will show works that have been inspired by poems written by the artists or by their family members.

GC Circuit Riders meet at Shoney’s

If you ride a motorcycle and would like to integrate your passion for riding with your passion for spreading the Word of God you might be interested in the Christian Motorcyclist Association. The Greenbrier Valley Circuit Riders invite you to our monthly meetings at Shoney’s in Lewisburg the first Tuesday of every month at 7 o’clock. We typically discuss upcoming rides, evangelistic ministry opportunities and enjoy fun and fellowship with our members. For more information contact Donna Jones at 304-661-6410.

AA meetings

are held at St. James Episcopal Church, 218 South Court Street, Lewisburg, Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 7 p.m. and Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at 12 noon.

NarAnon meetings

are held Wednesday evenings at 7 p.m. at St. James Episcopal Church, 218 South Court Street, Lewisburg. NarAnon is a 12-step support group for persons affected by someone else’s addiction. Call Susan at 304-646-6506 for more information.

Weekly AI-Anon meetings

are held every Thursday, 7-8 p.m. at Lewisburg United Methodist Church. Enter at Lee Street door. AI-Anon is a 12-step organization for family and friends of people with alcohol problems. For information call Sue at 304-646-6506 or Dee at 304-667-1766.

The Bluefield Princeton area

Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Support Group

meets once a month, usually around the last Tuesday. The group is open to all who have MS and also family and friends. Medical students and such are welcome. There is no charge or fee to join. We’re into our 28th year as a group. Please come, you’ll find us a caring and encouraging group. For information call Doug Mullins, group leader, at 304-753-9126.
