Greenbrier Recycling
on Monroe Avenue in Ronceverte is currently taking hardback books for recycling. Hardback books must be brought in Monday through Friday during business hours 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. There are no after hour drop-offs for hardback books at this time.
No drivers’ skills testing Fair Week
The Lewisburg Division of Motor Vehicles Regional Office will not conduct driver skills’ testing Thursday, Aug. 13, through Friday, Aug. 21. Customers that need to take their driver skills’ tests that week may utilize another Regional Office. Other DMV Regional Offices close to Lewisburg include the Beckley, Summersville, Flatwoods, Elkins and Princeton offices. All other normal business transactions will be available those days. Household Blow-Out
Wellspring of Greenbrier, Inc. 524 Nicholas Street Rt. 60, Rupert, invites the public to a Household Blow-Out from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m., Aug. 24 through 26 for those who have applied from July 31, 2014 through July 31, 2015. Thursday, Aug. 27 for low income families who have not applied during the above dates! Donations accepted, but not expected!
AHMH’s upcoming schedule
American Heritage Music Hall at Island Park, 315 Monroe Avenue, Ronceverte (website: www.americanheritagemusichall.org) is a nonprofit organization (Ref. IRS 501(c)3) and handicapped accessible. No alcohol and no smoking. All music nights schedule: door opens at 6 p.m., music starts at 7 to 10:30. Break at 8 p.m. for announcements and food. Newcomers & Old Friends Club
Ladies… get to know your neighbors and learn about the area by joining members of this women’s club for brunch at the home of Ellen Horne on Wednesday, Sept. 2, at 10 a.m. Please contact Ellen at 304-647-5462 if you need directions.
MTA will be closed
Monday, Sept. 7, for Labor Day. Regular operations will resume on Tuesday, Sept. 8.
AA meetings
are held at St. James Episcopal Church, 218 South Court Street, Lewisburg, on Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 7 p.m. and on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at 12 noon.
NarAnon meetings
are held Wednesday evenings at 7 p.m. at St. James Episcopal Church, 218 South Court Street, Lewisburg. NarAnon is a 12-step support group for persons effected by someone else’s addiction. Call Susan at 304-646-6506 for more information.
Weekly Al-Anon meeting
is held every Thursday, 7-8 p.m. at Lewisburg United Methodist Church. Enter at back door (Lee Street entrance). Al-Anon is a 12-step organization for family and friends of people with alcohol problems. For information call Sue at 304-646-6506 or Dee at 304-667-1766.
The Bluefield Princeton area
Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Support Group
meets once a month, usually around the last Tuesday. The group is open to all who have MS and also family and friends. Medical students and such are welcome. There is no charge or fees to join.
