Old Fashioned Shooting Match

is set for Saturday, Mar. 7 at 7 p.m. at the Williamsburg Community Building. Match is 8 rounds, 12 gauge guns only. Seven rounds at $2 per shot, eighth round 50/50 at $5 per shot. You must compete in all initial 7 rounds to qualify for round 8. Cash prizes awarded. Food and refreshments available. Sponsored by Williamsburg Ruritan Club.

Lewisburg Food Locker fundraiser

Because of inclement weather, the Lewisburg/Fairlea Foodlocker fundraiser scheduled for Feb. 22 has been rescheduled for Sunday, Mar. 8 from 3-7 p.m. at the Irish Pub in Lewisburg. There will be music, a silent auction and fellowship. Food donations can be dropped off at the Pub between now and Mar. 8. For information call 304-645-7842.

NIP credits available, deadline looms

Shepherd’s Center distribution goal is 70 percent or more of our Neighborhood Investment Program (NIP) credits by Thursday, Mar. 12. This is a firm deadline set by the WV Development Office, and is a critical element in ensuring future NIP funding. We can also accept a written commitment (received by Mar. 12) of the donor’s intent to donate a specific amount by June 30. We appreciate your consideration in this win/win opportunity for tax payers. Should you be unfamiliar with the NIP process or need further information, please contact our office at 304-645-4196.

Scout event postponed

the Buckskin Council of the Boy Scouts of America “University of Scouting” event at West Virginia State University (WVSU) originally scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 21, has been postponed until Saturday, Mar. 28.

Clay Center Family Fun Day postponed

Due to inclement weather, and for the safety of its patrons and presenting partners, the Clay Center has postponed its Discover Engineering Family Fun Day until Saturday, Mar. 7. The event was originally scheduled for Feb. 21.

Recycling to resume

Recycling will resume regular schedule the week of Mar. 2-6. The City apologizes for any inconvenience this may cause. Call Public Works Director Mark Carver at 304-645-1833 with any questions.

‘Sit N Sew’/Free quilting class offered

The Alderson Quilters and Crafters Guild invites you to come join them Monday, Mar. 9 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Lewisburg United Methodist Church at the corner of Washington and Lee streets for a “Sit N Sew” and/or a free quilting class for beginners. It is an Easy to Sew Quilt class called Simply Block Quilt. For questions please call Lucinda at 801-842-4813 or Debbie at 304-445-2364. During the month of March the guild will have quilts on display at the Greenbrier Valley Visitors Center.

AHMH’s Upcoming schedule

Tuesday Jam Sessions at the American Heritage Music Hall (AHMH) at Island Park, 315 Monroe Avenue, Ronceverte, have been moved to every Friday night – Mar. 6, 13, 20, 27 and Apr. 3, 10, 17, 24 – from 7 to 10/10:30 p.m. Doors open at 6, music starts at 7 p.m. Admission: Tuesdays $7 each; dance night $10 each. The dance in March will be held Mar. 28 featuring Bill Evans & The Night Riders. April’s dance will be held Apr. 25 and will feature High Country. Admission includes food, coffee and soft drinks brought in by the audience and donated to the music hall to share with everyone. (Bring your favorite snack to share.) (Note: AHMH DOES NOT PROVIDE ANY FOOD OR DRINKS). A family type atmosphere with no alcohol and no smoking, the Music Hall is handicap accessible, and a nonprofit organization, 501(c)3, located at Island Park, Ronceverte.
