Brenda Sue Freeman Ellis, 82, of Renick, WV, passed away Monday, Feb. 23, 2026, at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Born Sept. 26, 1943, in Baltimore, MD, she was the daughter of the late Harry Thornton Freeman and Edith Madeline Reed Powell and her stepfather Fred Powell.
Brenda dedicated nearly 30 years to Goodrich in Pickaway as a Training Coordinator and Supervisor before retiring. Earlier in her career, she worked manufacturing raincoats in Bel Air, MD. She was a faithful attendee of the Band of Hope Baptist Church until recently and enjoyed gardening, playing Rummy and Solitaire, reading, and crocheting.
In addition to her parents, Brenda was preceded in death by her daughter, Beverly Sue Ellis. She is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Benjamin H. Ellis; son, Benny Ellis (Tabatha); grandchildren, Bryar and Zachary Ellis; and an uncle, Dale Reed (Eleanor).
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, Mar. 2, at Morgan Funeral Home, Lewisburg, WV. Visitation will take place from 4 to 6 p.m., Sunday, Mar. 1, at the funeral home. Burial will follow the service in the Ellis Chapel Cemetery, Brushy Flats Road, Renick, WV.
