Bobby Lewis Hoover, 84, of Alderson passed away at home on Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2025. Born on June 27, 1941, in Crozet, VA, to the late Abraham Lincoln Hoover and Beulah Reynolds Hoover.
Bobby loved to be working in his woodworking shop or fixing something for friends and neighbors. He dedicated himself to being the caretaker of the Alderson Community Center after moving to Alderson.
Bobby enjoyed cutting grass and being outside as much as possible. Before moving to Alderson, he retired from The Ceiling and Floor Shop in Charlottesville, VA. Bobby was the first employee they hired and the first one to retire.
In addition to his parents, Bobby was preceded in death by his brothers Steven, Allen, and Albert.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Judy Dusenbury Hoover; sons Jeff and Bobby, Jr. (Betty); daughter Joan Holsapple (Mitch); grandchildren Kimberly Moses (Mike), Jerry, William, Tanner, Tripp; step-children Steven Kirby (Alex), Karen Hensley (Kelly); many great-grandchildren; and extended family Shawn, Debbie, Destiny, Briona, and Grayson Dickens.
In keeping with his wishes, Bobby will be cremated with a celebration of his life at the Alderson Community Center at a later date to be determined.
Judy is very appreciative of the care from the staff at Hospice and those special friends and neighbors who have helped or offered to help during the past few difficult weeks.
Alderson Funeral Services and Smathers Funeral Chapel are honored to have been entrusted to care for Bobby and Judy during their great time of need.
