Save the date and join the Greenbrier River Watershed Association for a Bird Walk along the Greenbrier River, starting at Stillwell Park in Marlinton, at 8:30 a.m. on Sunday, May 11, for coffee and muffins at the parking area closest to the park entrance.
Leading this walk is Adrianne Thackery, an Appalachian Forest National Heritage Area AmeriCorps member serving with Monongahela National Forest’s Watershed Team. Since completing their bachelor’s in environmental studies, Adrianne has also served with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service in Georgia and a county soil and water conservation district in New York. As a naturalist, Adrianne is always looking for opportunities to learn more about nature and participate in citizen science.
We will be looking for migrating birds as well as year round residents. Bring binoculars and dress for the weather. The walk will be about one mile along the river, park, and the Greenbrier River Trail. In case of inclement weather cancellation, check our Facebook page at facebook.com/greenbrier.watershed or call 970-389-5451. No need to sign up – please come.
