White Sulphur Springs-Betty Sue Gillespie Perkins, 93, passed away Monday, Oct. 23, 2017, at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.
Betty was born July 2, 1924, in White Sulphur Springs, the daughter of the late John Marvin Gillespie and Iona Painter Gillespie Rivoire.
She was member of the First Presbyterian Church in White Sulphur Springs. Betty was a member of the 1942 graduation class of White Sulphur Springs.
Preceding her in death, other than her parents and her stepfather, John P. Rivoire, were: husband, Quinlan MacArthur Perkins; sister, Helen Clark; brother, Jack Gillespie; son, Richard Van Perkins; and grandson, Duane Perkins.
Surviving are daughters, Sue Long and husband Rusty of Hampton, VA, Karen Garris and husband Norman of Covington, VA, Cindy Flack and husband Willard of White Sulphur Springs and Kathy King and husband David of Pickaway; sons, Jeff Perkins and wife Donna of Caldwell, Charles Bruce Perkins and special friend Sandy of Lewisburg, David Perkins and wife Bettina of Lindside; special niece, Betty Young and husband Charles; special nephew, J. M. Clark and wife Cheryl; 13 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mrs. Perkins will be Friday, Oct. 27, at 11 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in White Sulphur Springs with Pastor Garrett Bostic and Pastor Greg Scott officiating.
Interment will follow in Hill Crest Cemetery in White Sulphur Springs.
The family received family and friends Thursday evening, Oct. 26, at the Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home in White Sulphur Springs.
