On Saturday, Dec. 7, 2024, Bernard Charles Fleshman (Charlie) of Rainelle passed away after a long illness. He was 72 years old. He battled Pulmonary Embolisms, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Lymphoma, lung cancer, and various complications with patience and grace.

Charlie spent years in the mining industry, running a D11 on strip mines throughout the state. He retired in 2012 when his illness began but never stopped reminiscing about his days on the mountain with friends he held dear. After retirement, he enjoyed his days on his Sewell Mountain property, surrounded by wildlife, fishpond, family, and friends.

Loved ones remember Charlie as a kind man who always lent a helping hand to anyone who needed it. He enjoyed the occasional hunting trip, fishing, spending time on his skid steer, and, more than anything, working in his garage on various projects. He had an incredible love for animals and basked in the joy of treating them.

As someone who stood firm in his faith, Charlie joins his parents, John Fleshman and Clistie Fleshman Gunter; stepfather, Steve Gunter; brother, Darrel Fleshman; father-in-law, Chuck Lewis; mother-in-law, Dolly Lewis; Brother-in-Laws Jim, Mike, and John Lewis; and sister-in-law’s Susan and Jean Fleshman in heaven.

Charlie is survived by his wife of 53 years, Judy Fleshman; son, Wayne Fleshman; daughter, Tracy Martin; daughter-in-law, Melissa Fleshman; son-in-law, TC Martin; brothers Ron, Kerry (Wife, Pam), Ken (wife, Sheila), and Doug (wife, Kathy) Fleshman; sisters Barbara Walker (husband, Randy) and Karen McAlexander (husband, Vince); nieces, Johanna, Christina, Stephanie, Teresa and Maria, and nephews, Jimmy, Matthew, Kerry-Allen, Eric, Micheal, Vincent Lee, Tony, Donnie, Rodney, and Jonathan; many great nieces and nephews.

Memorial service will be held at 12 noon, Saturday, Dec. 14, at Wallace & Wallace Chapel, Rainelle with Pastor Fred Fryar officiating. Friends may gather with the family from 11 a.m. until the time of service.

Online condolences may be made to the family by visiting www.wallaceandwallacefh.com

Wallace & Wallace, Inc. of Rainelle, WV is in charge of arrangements.
