Sometimes you meet people who just make you happy and bring positive energy no matter where they go. When they walk into the room, it’s like a ray of sunshine just hit you and you can’t help but smile. You may not know them, yet you still smile when you see them for reasons unknown. I was lucky enough to meet someone this week and experience this first hand. For the sake of this article, I’ll call him Jeff.
I was sitting at my desk, working away and a gentleman walked in the office. The moment he walked through the doors, it felt like a tidal wave of positive energy just filled the room. For someone like me that is very sensitive to the energy around me, I was overwhelmed. I instantly felt like he was a good person and wanted to share his happiness with everyone around him. So when he said “Hello”, my natural response was to smile.
He was here for a meeting with a co-worker, but the entire time he was around, I felt overwhelmingly happy, joyous – almost blissful! How can one person have that effect on another without knowing it? Then I thought that maybe it was intentional – maybe he freely gave this energy everywhere he went. His meeting concluded and as he walked out he smiled and said, “Have a great day!” Of course I smiled and wished him a wonderful day as well. And as he walked out, I expected the energy to leave with him, but it didn’t. I still felt this silly, happy feeling that just wouldn’t go away.
I spoke to the co-worker that met with him to see if she had the same feeling. She said she did feel very comfortable around him and thought he was a nice person, but that was it. Maybe it affected me so strongly because I’m so in tune with people’s energies. Or maybe it’s because I try to see the best in people at all times. The bottom line is that he has mastered, whether consciously or unconsciously, something that I’ve been striving to do for years. He has learned how to share positive energy in a way that doesn’t diminish his energy and leaves a lasting mark on those around him.
I write to you all every week encouraging building and sharing positive energy to help yourself and others. I work on that myself every day, because I believe that spreading love instead of hate is a way to make our community and the world a better place. I take some quiet time in the mornings to relax and meditate and prepare my energy for the day. I watch the sunrise, I listen to the birds singing and enjoy the beauty of nature around me. And no, I’m not some crazy woman that sings along with the birds or chains herself to trees in protest. But nature has lots of energy to give if you will just honor it and receive it. It’s rejuvenating and will help you become like Jeff – spreading happiness everywhere you go.
So, I’d like to say thank you to Jeff. If he doesn’t know he has a gift, I hope he at least realizes that he is a good person with a good soul and a loving heart. Even though I don’t know you, you built my energy levels up just by being you. Jeff, you are a blessing to anyone you encounter and it’s people like you that will bring love and peace to this world.
And now, dear readers, here is a quote for you ponder during the coming week. “I do believe we’re all connected. I do believe in positive energy. I do believe in the power of prayer. I do believe in putting good out into the world. And I believe in taking care of each other.” —Harvey Fierstein. Take care of yourselves and spread a little love and happiness. I promise you will reap what you sow!
Bright Blessings, Peace and Happiness,
