Anilee Shafer Diem

Cladwell-Anilee Shafer Diem, 86, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2015, at Greenbrier Valley Medical Center.
She was born at Caldwell on Aug. 28, 1929. She was the daughter of the late George Edward Shafer and Flora Boone Shafer.
Mrs. Diem was a faithful member of Zion’s Light Baptist Church. She loved the Lord and read his word every day. She was a blessing to family and to everyone that knew her. She enjoyed being a full-time homemaker, mother and farmer’s wife. She dearly adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren,
Mrs. Diem was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, James W. Diem (Jim); eldest son, James Frederick Diem; sister, Louise Holley; and brothers, Ovid, Paul, Earl, Royd, Harold, Billy, Bob and Joe Shafer,
She is survived by: three children, Deborah J. Diem, Keith Diem and wife Debbie and Karl Diem and wife Kay, all of Caldwell; Fred’s widow, Patricia Diem of Belle Haven, VA; grandchildren, James Walter Diem and wife Heather of Belle Haven, VA, Stephanie Zodun and husband Mike of Belle Haven, VA, Laura Bond and husband Russ of Beaver, Nicole Smith and husband Jason of Caldwell, Kyle Diem of Morgantown and Karee Diem of Caldwell; great-grandchildren, Tyler, Abby, and Ashley Zodun of Belle Haven, VA, Madison and Sarah Diem of Belle Haven, VA, Sadie Smith of Caldwell and Brody Bond of Beaver; brother, Ray Shafer, of Caldwell; close neighbors, Patty Weikle and Billy Shafer; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mrs. Diem will be Sunday, Sept. 27, at 2 p.m. at Zion’s Light Baptist Church with Pastor Gary Baker officiating. Interment will follow in the McLean Cemetery.
The Diem family will greet their family and friends on Saturday, Sept. 26, at the Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home in Ronceverte from 6 until 8 p.m.
Pallbearers will be Montie Shafer, Kenny Shafer, Tommy Shafer, Russ Bond, Jason Smith and Kyle Diem.
In lieu of flowers, donations of sympathy may be made to The Gideon’s, P.O. Box 1380, Lewisburg, WV 24901.
