Alyene Evulyn Deitz Baldwin

Bluefield-Alyene Evulyn Deitz Baldwin, 89, formerly of Greenbrier County, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, Jan. 8, 2015, at Bluefield Regional Medical Center.

Born Mar. 21, 1925, in Cornstalk, she was the daughter of the late Mack Sheldon Deitz and Mary Esther Settle Deitz.

A retired teacher from Bland County Schools, she worked 14 years in McDowell County and another 14 years in Bland County Public Schools at Rocky Gap Elementary School. She was a sponsor of the 4-H program in Charmco, as well as Superintendent of Sunday School and Vacation Bible School while her children were in school. She enjoyed and cherished every moment with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She truly loved working with each and every one of her students.

In addition to her father and mother, she was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Doyle Stephenson Baldwin. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, friend and teacher.

Left to cherish her memory are: her children, son Roy D. Baldwin and Juanita of Gray, TN and daughter, Joyce Ann B. Rogers of the home and Sandra Cameron and Douglas of Elizabeth, WV; five grandchildren, D. Wayne Rogers and Dawn of Eagle Rock, VA, Rhonda Rogers of the home, Tanya Kelly and Lee of Concord, NC; Karan B. Mills and David of New Mark, TN and D. Daniel Cameron and Miranda of Fresno, CA; eight great-grandchildren, Richard, Elizabeth and Mary Rogers of Eagle Rock, VA, Chase Young, Hunter and Ryker Kelly of Concord, NC, Declan and Alaric Cameron of Fresno, CA; special sister, Dr. Phyllis P. Musgrove of Grapevine, TX and special niece, Angela Musgrove Brown of Grapevine, TX; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and especially, her beloved dogs, Khloe and Magpie.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, Jan. 14, at Wallace Memorial Mausoleum Chapel at Clintonville, where Rev. Verlin Butcher officiated. Burial was in Wallace Memorial Cemetery.

Friends called before the service at the Mausoleum on Wednesday.

Memorial donations may be made to Andrew Chapel United Methodist Church at Williamsburg.
