The Alderson High School Sophomore class of 1968 (the last sophomore class to be educated at Alderson High School) held a 50-year class reunion on Saturday, May 19, at the Alderson Community Center in Alderson.

Classmate Rev. Gary Burns provided the invocation, and a delicious catered meal was served. Entertaining opening remarks including reflections on life now and life in 1968, and were provided by classmate James Knapp, Captain, USN, retired.

An Alderson trivia quiz was prepared by Carol Thomas Cadle and enjoyed as everyone tried to recall events, names, etc. from life in the 1960s in Alderson and the high school.

Door prizes were awarded for the person traveling the greatest distance to attend, the person with the most children, etc. A grand prize of a maroon and gray (school colors) afghan handmade by Carol Thomas Cadle was won by Richard Kincaid.

A memorial for the 14 deceased classmates was on display as well as “then” and “now” pictorial boards. The event was so well enjoyed, all agreed to schedule another for May 16, 2020.
