Alderson Green Grocer Co-op offers fresh items over the winter months

Sadly the Alderson Community Farmers Market is over for the season, however Autumn Fest was a blast. We had old fashioned squeezed apple juice, a BBQ, candle wicking, fresh corn meal grinding, crochet demonstrations, crafts, jellies, a “bounce house” for the kids, pumpkin painting, home baked goods and fresh vegetables. Sunset Berry Farms held a raffle for a 32-inch television, which was won by Brian and Kathleen DeRouen of the Alderson Hospitality House.

With the Alderson Community Farmers Market closed for the season (will re-open in June 2014), you can now shop at the Alderson Green Grocer Co-op for your “specialty food” needs as well as some fresh vegetables throughout the winter thanks to one of our wonderful vegetable vendors. Located inside Wolf Creek Gallery (next to the Alderson Thrift Store), Alderson Green Grocer Co-op offers discounted specialty foods by monthly order or directly from the store.  Come in and ask about the benefits of membership with the Alderson Green Grocer Co-op.

Also, coming soon to Alderson will be a branch of S&S Feed store. Opening in the old Family Dollar building (beside IGA), S&S Feed Store will offer feeds for all types of animals, some various tractor and farming supplies and more – all at a reasonable price.

Spend a morning or afternoon visiting the lovely town of Alderson, which is nestled along the Greenbrier River, between Lewisburg and Hinton. With something for everyone, Alderson is a great “little town.” Visit our website at:  www.aldersonfoodhub.org.
