
At its regular meeting on Tuesday, Aug. 18 the Greenbrier County Airport Authority accepted a bid to complete EDA Infrastructure Improvements from a locally owned company, Schleiff Construction, LLC. The bid is in excess of three million dollars. The project includes water and sewer upgrades as well as the construction of new t hangars. EDA Infrastructure Improvements are federally funded capital projects by the U.S. Economic Development Administration.
Projects that have been completed this year include a new airfield lighting control panel and runway construction. A project to rehab the taxiway is currently in progress. A project to expand the terminal building is in the works and slated to begin in 2027.
In other business, CFO Martha Livesay provided information on finances. With all July 2026 expenses paid, the airport realized an increase of its surplus and improved on the results from July 2025. Livesay said the GVAA has accrued solid cash reserves and is in a strong financial position.
The next meeting of the Greenbrier County Airport Authority is scheduled for Sept. 10, 2026.
