The United States Department of Agriculture has deeded the Appalachian Farming System Research Center located a 1224 Airport Road to New River Community and Technical College (New River CTC) and the Raleigh County Emergency Operations Center (EOC).
Two separate plots of land, over 40 acres, will be shared by the two entities, with New River CTC receiving approximately 8.8 acres of land, consisting of the main laboratory and office space, greenhouses, and storage buildings. The EOC will split a little over 32.5 acres of property between Raleigh County 911 and Emergency Management.
The Raleigh County Campus/Central Administration of New River CTC is in the process of moving to its new location at 280 University Drive in Beaver. This additional property is in close proximity to the new campus location and will provide a tremendous opportunity for New River CTC to further expand its educational opportunities and resources to the community.
“We are very excited about receiving this property and partnering with the Raleigh County EOC,” stated Dr. L. Marshall Washington, president of New River CTC. “We look forward to the opportunities that we can provide to Beaver, Beckley and the surrounding communities.”
