Mary Katherine Duncan, 100, passed away on Monday, May 12, 2025, at the Bedford County Nursing Home in Bedford, VA. Born Oct. 12, 1924, in White Gate, VA, she was the daughter of the late Clarence B. and Mary Bane King. Mary worked as a teller for the Bank of Monroe in Union. She was a lifelong member of the Union Presbyterian Church where she served as the organist and a member of the choir for more than 50 years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Carlos C. Duncan; and brother, Donald B. King.
Survivors include her children, Ann Duncan of Bedford, VA, Libby Monk and husband Roy of Bedford, VA, and Clif Duncan and wife Toni Sue of Chesapeake, VA; grandchildren, Ashley Wilkerson and husband Joseph of Edgewater, MD, Katherine Monk and partner Leah Britton of Bedford, VA, and Adam Duncan and wife Nicole of Montpelier, VA; and great-grandchildren, Grayson and Cooper Wilkerson, Allie and Abigail Richmond, and Vinny Duncan.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Sunday, May 25, at the Union Presbyterian Church in Union, with Nancy Bulla officiating. Burial will follow in the Green Hill Cemetery in Union. Visitation will be held from 12 noon until time of services on Sunday at the church.
