A Shepherd’s Center planning committee meeting was held Dec. 1 to discuss topics for the spring Adventures in Learning classes coming up in March of 2015. Adventures in Learning (AIL) is a series of classes sponsored by Shepherd’s Center of Greenbrier Valley to promote lifelong learning in the Greenbrier Valley.
Beginning in March, the upcoming classes will take place one day each week for a series of six weeks. The specifics of each class are still being developed, but some of the general areas are: Current Events, Tai Chi, Move It or Lose It (Exercise), Bible Study, Creative Writing, One-hour crafts, Armchair Traveling, Book Club, Basketry, Pottery, “Origins…,” Mah-Jong, Bridge, Music, Puzzles and Brain Teasers, Line dancing and more.
Classes are held both in Lewisburg and Rainelle twice per year. There is a fee for any or all classes – in both locations. For example, one might attend a Line Dance class in Rainelle one day and head over to Lewisburg for Puzzles and Brain Teasers later in the week. Some classes, like pottery, require weekly attendance in order to complete your project(s). Most classes, however, allow you to take a mix of classes and attend whatever sounds like fun for that particular day.
Adventures in Learning classes are open to all ages. Transportation is available.
