Henry “Powell” Turner Jr., a beloved husband and stepfather passed away Thursday, Mar. 20, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones. Powell was born in Baltimore, MD, on Feb. 20, 1950, to Louise McPhearson and Henry Powell Turner, Sr. but was raised in Easton Maryland.
Powell lived a life marked by dedication to his family, friends and his work and was known for his kindness, mischievous smile, and unwavering integrity. He was dearly loved by his wife, Anne (Anderson-Casserleigh) Turner.
Powell’s love for his family was evident in everything he did and knew no bounds. He was a caring husband who could tease anyone back into a good mood, a loving stepfather to Tilde (Casserleigh) Fusco and Douglas Casserleigh, and a cherished grandfather to four step-grandchildren, Charleston, James, Miranda, and Hayden.
Outside of his professional life, Powell was an avid outdoorsman and any outdoor activity, loved history and was truly passionate about music. He approached everything with the same enthusiasm and dedication that defined his life. Powell’s legacy of compassion, strength and love will continue to inspire and guide his family and friends. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A celebration of Powell’s life will take place at St. James Episcopal Church, 468 Court Street, Lewisburg, WV, on Apr. 5, at 2 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to The Peyton House Hospice or The Greenbrier County Committee on Aging in memory of Powell Turner. There will be a reception following the service in the parish hall of St. James.
