Rev. Don A. Deremer, born Nov. 5, 1953, of White Sulphur Springs, WV, passed away peacefully on Monday, Nov. 4, 2024, at age 70, and entered the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, after battling Huntington’s Disease for 13+ years. Don was the second of five children born to Donald L. Deremer and Wilma E. (DeHoff) Deremer and grew up in Canton, OH. He was preceded in death by his parents, and both sets of grandparents, Marshall and Cora (Kitzmiller) Deremer and Oscar and Flossie (Weaver) DeHoff, two nieces, Melissa Dawn Roudebush and Diana Lynne Phillippi, and sister-in-law, Gladys (Wine) Deremer.

Don was a graduate of Canton Lincoln High School and received his Bachelor of Arts from Milligan College, his Master of Divinity from Ashland Theological Seminary, and Doctor of Ministry from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School.  Don followed God’s call to the pastorate and faithfully served in Christian churches in Ohio, Tennessee, Texas, Kansas, and back again to Ohio.

Don is survived by his three sons, Nathan (Brooke) Deremer, Matthew Deremer (fiancée, Jaye) and Jonathan Deremer (fiancée, Katie), two grandsons, Julian Deremer and Nolan Deremer, as well as his siblings, Cindy (John) Rhodes, Becki Huff (Brent Hansen), Dan Deremer, and Dave (Judy) Deremer, along with many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

From his youth, Don wanted to serve Jesus and lead others to Him.  Whether he was in the pastorate or after he retired, he maintained his passion to spread the Gospel. Even after being diagnosed with Huntington’s Disease in 2011 and moving to WV to be near to sister Cindy and brother-in-law John, he was quickly known for his joyful spirit as he always started each conversation with a cheerful hello and ended with his hopeful “God bless you!”  Even the debilitating effects of his ailment could not cause Don to complain or question God’s sovereign will. He was an example of 2 Timothy 4:6-8 to his family and friends throughout.

The family wishes to extend its heartfelt thanks to the doctors, nurses, attending staff, and residents of the White Sulphur Springs Center who lovingly cared for him over the last nine and half years.

Funeral arrangements for this Friday, Nov. 8, are with Morgan Funeral Home at 252 Montvue Drive, Lewisburg, WV 24901. Calling hours are scheduled from 10:30 a.m. to 12 noon with the funeral service starting at 12 noon. Burial will follow immediately after with a brief graveside service at the Lewisburg-Bolling Cemetery in Lewisburg.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Huntington’s Disease Society of America, 505 Eighth Avenue, Suite 1402, New York, NY 10018, Meadow Grove Baptist Church, 1829 Dawson Road, Meadow Bridge, WV  25976, or to your local food pantry.

Online guestbook can be signed and service will be streamed at www.morganfh.net. Arrangements by Morgan Funeral Home, Lewisburg, WV.
