David “Nick” Nichols, beloved husband, friend, historian and nature lover passed away Oct. 24, 2024, at the age of 60.
A lifelong resident of Monroe County, David was born at Dr. Guy’s office in Union on June 12, 1964.
He was preceded in death by his parents, June and Kyle.
David is survived by his wife and partner of 30 years Kelli Holbrook Nichols. David is a graduate of WV State University with degrees in Political Science and History, David was employed at WV DHHR a social as worker for many years. He specialized in Adult Protective Services and had a special affinity for the elderly enjoying spending time and learning their life stories.
David enjoyed collecting all sorts of fascinating things including historical documents, pocketknives, tools and machinery. David certainly had a lifelong, tight, close-knit group of friends who remained at the top of his thoughts right to the end of his life.
David and Kelli’s love for dogs is deep and all encompassing, they never met a canine they didn’t immediately fall in love with as they currently have six “children” in residence.
An outdoor memorial service (rain or shine) will be held Sunday, Nov. 3, at 4 p.m. at 2867 Seneca Tr. N., Sinks Grove, WV 24976.
