Across the Board Game Café has a game for everyone in the family!

By Sarah Richardson

White Sulphur Springs’ newest stop, the Across the Board Game Café, is celebrating its first month in business this week after opening in December. Across the Board is the area’s first game café, where patrons can purchase game passes to get access to several hundred board games. The family-friendly establishment has a selection of games for all ages, and prices start at just $5 for an all-day game pass per person, and children aged 2 and under are admitted for free. For more serious gamers, there are also monthly, quarterly, and yearly game passes available. There is no pass required to simply enjoy their food and drinks.

The Mario and Luigi drinks have red energy, cherry, and lime.

With a slew of coffee selections, all-day breakfast items, assorted sandwiches and paninis, pizza, charcuterie boards, and fun drinks, there is something for everyone to try. Board game-themed mocktails come in all colors and flavors, and a seasonal ice cream selection is also available. Some fan favorites are the Codenames Italian Panini, Hungry Hungry Ham Panini, their butterbeer, and the Candy Land latte.

Stephanie Sanders, regional business advisor at the WV Hive who is working with Across the Board Game Café, said, “It’s a nostalgic, family friendly environment for people of all ages and skill levels. I encourage folks to stop by to greet Jade and to see what this new small business has to offer.”

Across the Board is located in downtown White Sulphur at 698 E. Main Street (look for the yellow and gray striped awning!), and is open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. They are closed on Sundays. Follow them on Facebook at “Across the Board Game Café,” or visit their website at atbgamecafe.com to pre-order food for pickup and view their full menu offerings. You can order breakfast the night before and simply swing through in the morning to your food already prepared!

With hundreds of games to choose from at all skill levels, it’s a great way to spend a gloomy winter day inside and out of the weather.
