Maxwell Ray Bostic
White Sulphur Springs-Maxwell Ray Bostic, 84, passed away Thursday, Aug. 31, 2023 at Peyton Hospice House in Fairlea.
He was born July 2, 1939 in White Sulphur Springs, the son of the late Jesse L. and Naomi Vance Bostic.
Maxwell had retired from the Greenbrier County Board of Education after 33 years; he too had worked with CSX and Johnny Justice’s sawmill. He was an avid hunter, WVU fan and best buddy to his son and grandson.
Other than his parents he was preceded in death by daughter-in-law, Stacy Bostic; his sister, Juanita Bryant and husband Paul; brothers, Divus Bostic and Cody Bostic and wife JoAnn; and brothers-in-law, Mike Weikle and Ralph Wickline.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 58 years, Barbara Webb Bostic; son, Maxwell Ray Bostic “JR” of White Sulphur Springs; grandson, Maxwell Ray Bostic III “Max”; step-grandchildren, Emily Fortney and husband Jordan and Thomas Dalton and wife Brittany; great-grandchildren, Palmer Fortney, Lawson Fortney, Hudson Fortney and Jackson Dalton; sisters, Beatrice Weikle (husband Michael deceased), Joyce Wickline (husband Ralph deceased) and Rosemary Hoke and husband Carlos all of White Sulphur Springs; brother, Burless Bostic and wife Barbara of Maxwelton; sister-in-law, Lois June Bostic (husband Divus deceased) of White Sulphur Springs; special mention of niece, Jennifer Bryant and several other nieces and nephews.
Maxwell’s funeral services were held on Monday, Sept. 4, at the Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home in White Sulphur Springs where Pastor Bobby McClintic officiated. Interment followed in Rosewood Cemetery in Lewisburg. The family received their family and friends at the funeral home before the service.
