Faye Edith (Persinger) Baker passed away peacefully Friday, Mar. 17, 2023 at the age of 91 at her daughter and son-in-law’s home on Teaberry Road.
Faye was born Mar. 16, 1932 in Lewisburg, to parents Clyde and Pearl (Flack) Persinger of Muddy Creek Mountain.
Faye was a loving wife, mother, and homemaker. She also cherished becoming a grandmother and great-grandmother. Faye was always ready to lend a helping hand to family, friends, and the church. Assisting her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren get a start in the world with a lot of tender loving care gave her much pleasure. Also, she especially loved housework of all kinds which allowed her to assist a number of people in the community with maintaining their homes and, in some cases, provided an opportunity for them to remain in their familiar surroundings even if they were dealing with illness. She also volunteered at the Ronceverte Food Pantry for many years.
She was a long-standing member of the Ronceverte Presbyterian Church where she also assisted in the church kitchen for many years. Her church was an important part of her life.
Other than her parents, Faye was preceded in death by her husband, Basil to whom she was married for 66 years; and sister, Lucille, and brother, John.
Those left to cherish memories of Faye are two daughters, Pamela Carter (Billy) and Angela Whited (Alan); two grandchildren, Allison Whited McMellon (Jason) and Gary Whited (Jamie); three great-grandsons, Ryan McMellon, Kyle McMellon, and Cash Whited; brothers, Harold Persinger (Ginny) and Guy Persinger. Also, extended “Persinger” family members which includes a niece, Colleen Whelan to whom she was very close, as well as a number of “Baker” family members.
Faye was very proud of her family and their accomplishments throughout every stage of their lives. The number of family pictures found in almost every room of the house was a testament to her love of her precious family.
Per her wishes, a public graveside service will be held at Greenbrier Memorial Gardens in Lewisburg on Saturday, Mar. 25, at 2:30 p.m. with Rev. Stephen Baldwin officiating.
The family would like to extend sincere appreciation to Lewisburg Hospice for the care and guidance given during our loved one’s time of need.
If anyone should so choose, memorial donations may be made to the Ronceverte Presbyterian Church Building Fund, Ronceverte Food Pantry, or Lewisburg Hospice Care.
