Dewey Milton Bennett

Alderson-Dewey Milton Bennett, 91, went home to be with the Lord and the love of his life, Mary.

Dewey was born in Pax, WV, on Oct. 12, 1931. He was the son of the late Dewey Everett and Grace Elizabeth Elliot Bennett.

Dewey was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the United States Army. After serving in the Army, he returned to be a bottler with the Pepsi-Cola Bottling Company of Alderson. Dewey is known for “his special mixture of Pepsi.”

If there was ever a man who loved hunting, it was Dewey. He was at home in the woods and loved hunting with his family. He killed his last deer at age 89.

Those left to cherish his memory are his son, Larry Bennett and wife Evelyn of Glace; his daughter, Brenda Hunter and husband Rick of Ronceverte; grandchildren, Jeremy Bennett and wife Amy, Shane Bennett and fiancé Carrie, Aaron Street and wife April, Kaitlin Loux and husband Aaron, Bethany Emery and husband Jack, and Olivia Hunter and her significant other, Justis.

Dewey had a special place in his life and heart for his great-grandchildren; Destiny Bennett, Trista Bennett, Hadley Bennett, Gage Bennett, Kynslee Bennett, Peyton Street, Noah Street, Preston Loux, Emilia Loux, Fiona Loux, and Finn Emery.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, Feb. 23, at Lantz Funeral Home, Alderson, where Pastor Randy Burdette officiated. Burial followed in the Alderson Cemetery.

Visitation was at the funeral home on Thursday before the service.

In lieu of flowers, Dewey’s family appreciated the care Autumn Way Assisted Living of Rupert provided. They would appreciate donations to the facility.

Lantz Funeral Home is honored that Dewey’s family has trusted us with their needs during this time.
