Georganna C. Holcomb

White Sulphur Springs-Georganna C. Holcomb, 79, passed away on Friday, Oct. 10, 2014, at Greenbrier Valley Medical Center.

Born Oct. 6, 1935, at Carretta, WV, she was a daughter of the late Joseph Preston and Anne R. Roberts Clark.

Mrs. Holcomb was a victim of polio at two years old. Through all her life she struggled with it and never complained about her condition. Despite her illness, she was able to graduate high school. She was confined to a bed, wheelchair and crutches and could never walk. She is now walking the streets of gold in heaven. Mrs. Holcomb was of the Baptist faith, loved gospel music and also loved working crossword puzzles and crocheting. She enjoyed her children and grandchildren.

Preceding her in death other than her parents was her husband, Donald Lee Holcomb.

Survivors include: daughter, Wanda “Wendy” Kane and Georganna’s son-in-law, Richard Streck of Callaghan, VA; son, Danny Holcomb of White Sulphur Springs; four grandchildren, Daniel, Donnie and Heather Holcomb, all at home in White Sulphur Springs and Melanie M. Ferreria of Sacramento, CA; two great-grandchildren, Austin T. Gribbins and Joshua Ferreria both of Sacramento, CA.

Her funeral service was conducted Thursday, Oct. 16, in the chapel of Shanklin Funeral Home where Rev. Jonathan Comer officiated.

Visitation was one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Interment was in the Alderson Cemetery in Alderson.
