White Sulphur Springs-E. Margaret Halterman, 88, passed away Saturday, July 25, 2020, at home, surrounded by loved ones.

Margaret was born June 26, 1932, in White Sulphur Springs to the late Odessa Pauline Robertson and Frank Clayton Wickline.

Margaret was a faithful Christian woman who attended the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She attended White Sulphur Springs High School and worked at Bowling Hardware Company as well as the News Stand in The Greenbrier Hotel. She was also the leader of the White Sulphur Springs 4-H Hustlers. She was married to Lewis Fredrick Halterman on Oct. 16, 1963.

She was very active in her family’s lives. She was the glue that held everyone together. Before going to be with the Lord, Margaret loved going on Sunday drives just to get out of the house to see the country and using those moments to inspire her beautiful paintings. She loved getting the family together to eat a hot, fresh dinner at home. She dedicated her life to make those around her feel loved and welcome.

Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Fredrick “Fred” Halterman; stepmother, Lorena B. Wickline; stepbrother, Henry F. Ayers; brother, William “Billie” Wickline; and sisters, Claytie Wickline Dancy and Kay Wickline Berilla; and stepson, Lewis Spencer Halterman.

Margaret is survived by daughters, Marsha (Vernon) Fogus and Paula Kay Butts; granddaughter, Dakota (Chris) McNeely; grandson, Travis Butts (Ashley); step-grandson, Kevin Halterman; step-granddaughter, Julie Halterman Kirkpatrick; great-grandchildren, Brooklyn and Noah Taylor, Caleb McNeely, and Zane Butts; and nieces, Brenda Arnold, Karen Ayers, Carol VonLuvender, Patti Leidig, Jenny Fritz and Barbara Wilson; and nephews, Tom Freeman, John Dancy and Michael Wickline.

Margaret’s beautiful spirit, kindness and willingness to love will deeply be missed by her family, friends, and community.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Aug. 8, at 3 p.m. at the Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home in White Sulphur Springs. The family will receive family and friends from 1 p.m. until time of service.

Due to COVID-19, please follow all state-mandated guidelines.

In lieu of flowers please make a donation to either Shriners or St. Jude.

Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home in White Sulphur Springs is in charge of arrangments.
