Greenbrier East High School will conduct their annual volleyball camp June 16-19 from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at GEHS gymnasium.
Camp is for upcoming 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th graders and the cost is $40 before May 31 – $50 after May 31 – and includes a camp T-shirt. The camp will be run by Greenbrier East High School Coaches. Matt Sauvage is going into his 12th year, nine years as head coach. Possible coaches participating: Ali Curry – 2 years at GEHS, Jenna Brown – 4 years at GEHS and 3 years with the Greenbrier club program, Erin Thorpe – 1 year at GEHS and 1 year with the Greenbrier club program, Pat Cochran – 2 years at EGMS and 1 year with the Greenbrier club program and JD Loudermilk – 2 years at EGMS and 2 years with the Greenbrier club program. In the past 11 years there have been 16 players go to play at the college level. East players, past and present, will also be assisting as camp counselors.
In the past 11 years, East Volleyball has accomplished the following: 3 Sectional Titles, Regional competition 10 years, 2 Regional Titles and 4 state tournament appearances. The 2013 campaign of East Volleyball was a very successful one; we finished the season 2nd in the state, won the Sectional championship, won the regional championship and made it to the State Championship Game.
These camps will help the players develop their entire game. All skills will be touched upon in both individual and team skill situations. The campers will learn and develop better skills in passing, hitting, serving and setting. The primary focus will be fundamentals, with advanced skill development. Campers will receive individual instruction many times throughout the camps. The Campers will work very hard but will also have a lot of fun.
