Alderson-Beverly Kay Reed Carter, 60, passed away Wednesday, Mar. 19, 2014, at her home in Alderson, following a sudden illness.
Born Apr. 26, 1953, at Fort Spring, she was the daughter of Goldie Hoylman Reed Shires of Alderson and the late Richard Harold Reed,
Mrs. Carter was a retired licensed practical nurse, having retired after 37 years of service. During the span of her nursing career, she worked at several family practices and clinics in Greenbrier and Monroe Counties in West Virginia. She attended Alderson schools, and was a cheerleader at Alderson Junior High School. She was a graduate of Greenbrier East High School, Fairlea, and graduated from the Summers County School of Practical Nursing, Hinton. Mrs. Carter was a member of the River of Life Church of God, Alderson. She loved antiquing, auctions, going to flea markets and drag racing, but above all, she was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
Survivors include: her husband of 14 years, Donnie Carter of Alderson; three daughters, Jennifer D. Alderson of Quinwood, Molisha N. Samples and husband, Ty of Rainelle and Kristen R. Tincher and husband Ezra of Fairlea; two sons, Michael Chad Carter and wife Katie of Apple Valley, MN and D.C. Carter of Ligonier, PA; eight grandchildren, Steven and Brandon Alderson of Quinwood, Tori and Wyatt Samples of Rainelle, Joshua and Dalton Tincher of Fairlea and Mya and Eden Carter of Apple Valley, MN; her mother, Goldie Hoylman Reed Shires and husband Jim of Alderson; brother, John Reed and wife Judy of White Sulphur Springs; three sisters, Brenda Holliday of Woodbridge, VA, Vickey Kincaid and husband Sammy of Hillsboro and Robin Ward and husband Tony of Alderson; her mother-in-law, Velma Carter of Fort Spring; sister-in-law, Gale Greenway and husband Kenny of Fort Spring; three brothers-in-law, Nat Carter and wife Jeanette of Fort Spring, Brian Carter and wife Joan of Fort Spring and Kevin Carter and wife Kathy of Joe’s Creek, VA; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services were held Sunday, Mar. 23 at the River of Life Church of God, Alderson, where Pastor Anthony Carter and Pastor Rick Duncan officiated.
Burial was in Mount Vernon Cemetery, Fort Spring.
Friends called Saturday evening, Mar. 22 at Lobban Funeral Home, Alderson, and one hour prior to services at the church on Sunday.
Family and friends served as pallbearers.
