Alderson-Dorothy Lee Halcomb, 77, of Alderson passed away Tuesday, March 25, 2014 after a long illness.
Born at Page, she was the daughter of the late Thomas W. and Marjorie Woolwine of Alpoca.
Dorothy graduated from Raleigh County Vocational School as a Licensed Practical Nurse, first working at Wyoming General Hospital in Mullens, before moving to Greenbrier County where she worked at Greenbrier Valley Medical Center as a surgical nurse until her retirement. Dorothy loved spending time with her family and friends, she loved the outdoors, cooking out, crafting, wood working, ceramics, painting and making porcelain dolls. She will be missed by all who knew her.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband, Ed Halcomb in 1994; son, Eddie Lee Halcomb in 1974; and brother, Raymond (Bob) Reese.
Survivors include: daughter, Rhonda Whitt and husband Roger of Mullens; two sons, John Halcomb of Alderson and Randall Halcomb and wife Rosemary of Chesapeake, VA; five grandchildren, Cheryl Bond, Roger Dale Whitt, Randall Ray Halcomb, Jr., Holly Halcomb and Ashley Halcomb; five great-grandchildren, Kendra and Karleigh Bond, Isaac and Ezra Halcomb and Kenleigh Whitt; sister, Linda Woolwine of Beckley; and a host of nieces, nephews and family and friends.
The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Mar. 29, at the Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home in Lewisburg with Pastor Jonathan Hunt and Pastor Lewis Arnold officiating.
Burial will be at 2 p.m. at Roselawn Cemetery in Princeton.
The family will receive friends from 6-9 p.m. at the Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home in Lewisburg on Friday, Mar. 28.
The family would like to thank the Hospices nurses and aids who assisted with Dorothy.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
