Theodore Thomas “Teddy” Watts quietly transitioned into his Heavenly Father’s arms Thursday, May 2, 2019, at the Cleveland Clinic Hospital in Cleveland, OH.
Born Jan. 30, 1950, in Lexington, VA, he was the son of Le Roy Watts of Lexington, VA, and the late Naomi Roane Watts.
After he graduated from Lexington High School in 1968, he attended Saint Paul College for two years and left college due to a sports injury. Mr. Watts then enlisted into the United States Army and served for many years. For 22 years he was a dedicated worker for Mundet-Hermetite Inc. in Buena Vista, VA and received an award each year for perfect attendance. Mr. Watts enjoyed gardening and loved sports. He coached Little League Baseball for several years and you could always find him watching basketball or football on TV. He never met a stranger and would not hesitate to help anyone in need. Mr. Watts joined and became a member of the River of Life Church of God on Jan. 1, 2006, and served faithfully as head usher until his health began to decline.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving and devoted wife of 35 years, Joan Page Watts of Alderson; his father, Le Roy Watts of Lexington, VA; his daughter, Teresa Galloway and her fiancé, Conrad Haynes, of Columbus, OH; granddaughter, Heather D. Freeman of Columbus, OH; grandson, Richard A. Freeman and his wife, Nicole Freeman, of Columbus, OH; five great-grandchildren, Isaiah Freeman, Justyce Freeman, Elisjsha Freeman, Jadyn Freeman, and Jace Freeman all of Columbus, OH; three sisters, Rosa Leigh Haston, Laura Davis, and Alice Watts all of Lexington VA; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Saturday, May 11, at the River of Life Church of God in Alderson, where Pastor Anthony Carter and Pastor Moses Edwards officiated. Private interment was in the Old Greenbrier Memorial Cemetery in Alderson. Military funeral honors were conducted by the West Virginia Honor Guard. Friends called Saturday, May 11, before the service at the church.
