Students on the Greenbrier Valley Campus of New River Community and Technical College are participating in the VITA program (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) through Apr. 5.
The VITA Program offers free tax preparation for both federal and state income tax returns. Student volunteers are required to become certified with the Internal Revenue Service prior to participating in the program. Returns will be reviewed by local CPAs for accuracy.
Starting Jan. 25, student volunteers are available on Thursday and Saturday mornings from 8 a.m. to noon at the Greenbrier Valley Campus, 101 Church Street in Lewisburg. Electronic filing (e-File) is available, and refunds can be directly deposited into your bank account.
This service is available for low and moderate income taxpayers who do not own businesses, farms or rental properties. No appointments are accepted.
