Lewisburg-Kathleen Marie Sabol, 72, passed away Tuesday, Mar. 19, 2019, at UVA Medical Center in Charlottesville, VA.

Ms. Sabol was born on Oct. 1, 1946, in Wheeling. She attended Central Catholic High School and received her Bachelor’s Degree at West Liberty University in West Liberty.

She resided in Lewisburg for 35+ years.  Prior to retirement, Kathleen was a Medical Technologist and the Supervisor of the Laboratory at the Greenbrier Clinic in White Sulphur Springs. She was a lover of the outdoors, frequently going on kayak and bike trips up and down the Greenbrier River, and never missed the opportunity to sit on the water and bask in the sunshine. She will be remembered for her independence and optimism, incredibly generous heart, loyalty and love for friends and family, and her ability to find the best deals during any shopping trip.

She was preceded in death by her father, Herbert P. Hess (d. 1949); her brother, Herbert “Herbie” Hess (d. 2002); and her mother, Bernice “BB” Snider (d. 2007).

Kathleen is survived by a son, Sean William Sabol (Candace Sabol) of Union and a daughter, Erica Sabol Piper (Christopher Piper) of Richmond, VA; four grandchildren, Sterling Bryce Sabol and Seana Rayne Sabol of Union and Daniel Lawrence Piper and Johanna Elizabeth Piper of Richmond, VA; beloved stepfather, William “Bill” Snider of Wheeling; beloved niece, Julie Hess Johnson of Triadelphia; beloved sister-in-law, Kim Hess of Benwood;  extended family in Morgantown and Orlando, FL; and so many dear friends she treated like family.

Kathleen’s family respects her wishes for cremation, and will hold a celebratory memorial service in Lewisburg in the coming weeks.

In Kathleen’s memory, friends and family are invited to make donations to Lions Club International, of which she was an active member (https://www.lionsclubs.org/en), or Shepherd’s Center of Greenbrier Valley (greenbriershepherdscenter.com).
