The Women of the Henning Church of God held their Christmas Celebration on Dec. 4 in the church fellowship hall.
President, Carole Spencer presided. Dyan Hefner gave the devotion, “What a Time for a Trip,” with scripture reference, Luke 2:1-7. Mary and Joseph were traveling from Nazareth to Bethlehem just before she is about to give birth. Mary must have been concerned about the journey. However, she most likely concentrated on the goodness of Joseph and the miracle of the baby inside of her. She and Joseph were true servants.
Donna Scott led in prayer and Sam Zicafoose entertained the group by singing, “I Know Who Holds Tomorrow.”
The group reported sending 110 cards, making 14 visits and making 38 phone calls. Carole reminded everyone that the church will be Christmas caroling on Dec. 12 and 19 and the group will serve the Maxwelton Ruritans on Dec. 20. The Christmas play will be held Friday, Dec. 21 at 7 p.m. in the church sanctuary. The Christmas Cantata will be Sunday Morning, Dec. 23 at 11 a.m. and the children’s play will be that evening at 5 p.m. Pastor’s appreciation dinner will be on Jan. 13. Missions Day will be held at the Green Valley Church in St. Albans on Jan. 19. Paul Maxfield will be the speaker.
Secret pal gifts were exchanged and new names were drawn. The next meeting will be held Jan. 8. Alice Coff dismissed in prayer.
