Alderson-Carolyn Joan Tansley Michelsen, 75, formerly of Beachwood, NJ, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2018, at Charleston Area Medical Center – General Hospital in Charleston, following a long illness.
Born May 29, 1943, in Lakewood, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Walter J. and Louise S. Slusmon Tansley.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Knud Chris Michelsen; and brother, Walter H. Tansley.
Mrs. Michelsen was a homemaker. She was a 1961 graduate of Toms River High School in Toms River, NJ, and was of the Baptist faith. Mrs. Michelsen loved to crochet and go bowling, but above all, she loved to spend time with her family. She loved being a mother to everyone.
Survivors include son, Kenneth C. Michelsen and wife Donna of Alderson; two daughters, Cynthia L. Loftus and husband Mike of Alderson and Roberta J. Michelsen of Toms River, NJ; brother, William Tansley of Toms River, NJ; five grandchildren, Angela, Brian, Denien, Travis and Tyler; 12 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Friday, Nov. 9, at 2 p.m. at the Lobban Funeral Home Chapel, Alderson, with Pastor Jonathan Hunt officiating. Friends may call Friday, from 12 noon to 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
