Ronceverte-Constance Elizabeth Young died Monday, Sept. 3, 2018, after a long illness.

She was born the daughter of the late Clarence and Estella Greene Miller of Ronceverte.

Constance graduated from Bolling High School in Lewisburg and continued her education at Storer College in Harper’s Ferry. Mrs. Young was employed by the Federal Correctional Institution of Alderson for 20 years where she served as a Correctional Counselor. She worked as a staff counselor with the area’s first sheltered workshop with persons with developmental disabilities. Earlier in her career, Constance was employed by the Greenbrier County Board of Education.

Mrs. Young was a member of the Main Street United Methodist Church in Ronceverte where she served as the Laity Leader for approximately 20 years and held various positions of leadership but none that she loved more than Director of the Youth Choir and Sunday School teacher. Constance was very active in community affairs having served as a member of the Ronceverte City Council and Scout Leader for the Girls Scouts.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Julian B. Young; brothers, LeRoy Miller, Charles A. Miller, Lewis Henry Miller and Earl S. Miller; and sister, Rose Ann Miller.

Constance Young is survived by daughters, Loretta Young of Ronceverte and Cynthia Sue (Ray) Lee of Clintonville and son, Julian Dale Young of Ronceverte.  She is the proud grandmother to Jessica Lee of Clintonville and Brittney (Tony) Robertson of Concord, NC; and the great-grandmother of Sydney Robertson and Tyson Howard. She is also survived by a sister, Lorraine Leftwich of Ronceverte and one brother, Benny Joe Miller (Rose Marie) of Olney, MD and a sister-in-law, Hazel Miller of Ronceverte.

She will be greatly missed by a host of family members, especially her niece, Pamela Miller Mitchell, members of Main Street United Methodist Church and so many friends acquired throughout her life. The family thanks Kathy Brown of Ronceverte for her services as Care Provider.

A Celebration of her life was held Saturday, Sept. 8, at the Main Street United Methodist Church in Ronceverte where the Pastor Sharon Howard officiated.

Visitation was at the church before the celebration service.

Burial service followed at the Sunset Memorial Cemetery in Ronceverte.

A repast was held in the Fellowship Hall of the Main Street Church following the burial ceremony.
